Just dropping in & saying hello to all here at SmokingMeatForums.  I have been silently looking around for about a year & decided to finally join up.

I love all things BBQ & love checking out all the smoker builds & of course the Q-View.

I am currently using a homemade side burner but I have a 200 Gal. tank that's been purged & I have made the intial cuts but I am just waiting on a little more free time to get it rolling on.  It will be a trailer mount reverse flow fueled by mostly Mesquite wood since I can get it for free!!!!

Thanks & keep on Smoking!

Marty

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us!

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per TulsaJeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!

Hello and welcome Marty from Whitehouse, Texas. This is a great site, lots of information and great people that are willing to throw in their two cents worth on about anything.   Did you get your brisket going?

Thanks for the welcome.

I trimmed my brisket last night & started a new thread w/ a pic under the side burner forum but they haven't released it yet since I am new to the site.

I am firing the smoker up when I get off work here afterwhile & going to let it cook into the night until she's done. I'll post some more as I go but there is no telling when they will show up.  Hopefully not too much longer.

Marty

Marty, I just checked and there is nothing being held from you. I only see the 3 posts you have made and they are all live. I think for some reason the thread didn't get submitted. Please resubmit it and if it does get held I will be sure to validate it.

Hey, Marty    Gary here from Whitehouse. Maybe you will get the pictures up.  I posted pictures all day yesterday on the briskets and ribs they posted right away. I like Mesquite do you have a good source. I grew up in Dallas and Mesquite. Lived on Poplar just off Bruton Rd. 635 ran right behind our house, when we first moved there no 635 LBJ FRWY  apartments or houses. I used to run my dog and hunt rabbits and squirrels where all those houses are now. Anyway got side tracked. Keep us posted on your cook .

S2K9K, it's entirley possible I didn't get it submitted cause I was on my phone trying to get a couple pics loaded & you know how that can go.  Plus, I was watching a little football & was a little side tracked.  I will try again here in a few & see if I can get it posted.  Thanks, Marty

Gary, I think the problem might have been user error on my part so hopefully I will get it going here shortly.  Yes, my brother-in-law & sister have about 10 acres in Central Texas out by Hamilton that is covered with Mesquite.  It's basically come & get it whenever I need some.  Me & the family went out about a month ago & brought back 2 Mesquite trees on a trailer.  I just got them cut & split & ready for some smoking.  If you need some let me know.  I got more than I need & can restock anytime.  I have already taken a wheelbarrow load to a neighbor for his smokin needs.  Trying to help out the cause all I can.  HAHA!

I got family all over the Metroplex & yes they were there too when you could go do some hunting not too far out of town but all those areas are full of houses & shopping centers now.  I was born & raised in this area (Chapel Hill) & the wife went to Whitehouse so we are probably East Texas lifers but we like it.

Marty

Thanks I may take you up on some of that Mesquite.

Gary

I have started a thread under the side burner forum called Brisket Time & that is where I have a few pics. I have them wrapped up right now still cooking. I will try to post a few more when I take them off.
