I stumbled upon this forum while researching smokers. So I thought I would sign up and say hello. Beau here, I live in Bangor Maine. I am slightly new to smokers but have been around fire, meat and coals most my life. I use to live in the country and have had my share of grills. Now the wife wanted to be in the city so I sold all my grills and now live in the top floor of a building. Lucky for me I have roof access, So I just went out and purchased a masterbuilt pro 30 electric smoker.
I assumed the folks owning the building would appreciate not having a roaring fire on top of there place. It is not out of the box yet. I am still a bit wherry about if I chose correctly.
My concern is the weather. Even though I have roof access..I did not say the access is easy with a smoker in your hands. So once it is up there..It is there the whole season. There is no cover and I can not build any type of shelter up there. I bought two smoker covers and figured I would wrap the hell out of it after use. I can use gas up there but thought the electric might be easier in the long run.
It is not coming out of the box until my a-maze-n pellet gear gets here. I ordered it right after buying the smoker. So I still have a bit of time to swap er out for gas but leaning toward keepin the electric and hoping for the best.
Anyway..That's what is on my mind with out writing a book. Hello All!
