Hi all,

Been lurking on here for quite some time.  Go to school in Gainesville, FL at the University of Florida.

Got into cooking meats after watching my father make some fine dishes on his Weber original, and later Char-broil smoker and propane turkey fryer.  Ive been stuck with a SS 4 burner propane grill for some time, and even used it to smoke with a chip tray+water pan (made ABTs several times). Finally ready to legitimately move up into the smoking world and am asking for a smoker for Christmas from my pops.

We ordered me a 30" Masterbuilt Electric (older gen, black) to get me started.  Couldnt pass up the $129.99 deal.  Also am jumping on an AMNPS, a Maverick ET-732, and some of Todd's pellets.  Also already bought Jeff's rib and sauce recipe and am ready to make a, what I hear to be, quality rub.

I think I will start with some 3-2-1 ribs.  Then maybe try a butt and do a longer smoke.  Cant wait to make some of that pulled pork I see in photos here.

This place seems quite welcoming and full of tons of advice.  I blow away hours just researching.  Looking forward to learning a lot and hope to post about my first try at smoking soon.

Thanks Dave,

Editing my profile and signature now.

Jeff's e-course was a great help and I learned a lot.  Even provided course participants with a discount on his rub/sauce that I was able to take advantage of.
