Hello All,
I have been an avid reader of this site for awhile now, trying to learn about smoking while I figured out what type of smoker I wanted. I decided the best option to fit my family needs would be an electric smoker, used with an amazin pellet smoker.
I found a Royal Oak smoker on Craigslist for $40. It is an electric, cabinet style smoker. I did find some references to this smoker on this forum and others. It appears to have been sold 5 or 6 years ago. It is said to have decent temperature control, but issues with the smoke box being too high from the heating coil to produce smoke. I plan to use the amazin pellet smoker, so that should take care of that problem.
The smoker is in "like-new" condition....lady I bought it from said her husband wanted it for Christmas and then never used it, she was tired of looking at it in the garage. Works for me! She did not have the directions and I could not find them online anywhere. I printed the directions for one that looks similar. I don't see any real vents or holes that can be adjusted for airflow, so I hope there is enough air to keep the amazin pellet smoker going. There is a small hole at the top of the rear for the smoke to escape from.
I have two 5 pound bone-in pork shoulders in the fridge, with a nice rub in them. I plan to smoker them for dinner tomorrow. Also making some Wicked Baked Beans to go with the Pulled Pork.
I would love to try smoking some cheese, but I think it is too hot here right now for that.....98 yesterday.
Jane
