New here, new to smoking. Primarily interested in smoking wild game with local woods. Just bought a used small charbroil offset over the weekend and anxious to get started. If I post a picture of some split wood I've got around the house, y'all think you could help a fella ID some split wood?

Welcome, and please do post pics of the wood and your smoker/pit. I can't help with the wood but I'm sure someone here could.

Where is "Local"?

Hi from another newbie! These folks are killer... and the resources are phenomenal. Do a search for just about anything and you will find expert guidance. My best advice: binge on the posts and articles.. you'll learn SO much!

Folks can better tailor answers if they have an idea where you are located.
Helps to figure out what sort of wood you might have collected.

For example, I'm in California.
Also known as the State of More Rons...

Welcome aboard from Wisconsin! Always be careful with woods you don't know, even if people claim they can tell what it is online that doesn't beat some one knowing in the real flesh and blood!

Welcome to the site, glad to have you join the fun.
