I am eyeing a GMG on Craigslist and would be interested in folks thoughts. It appears to be in good shape. He says it is Wifi, but he's not used the Wifi.

Anything I should look out for or check before buying?

ELECTRIC Components !
I almost bought a used pellet smoker.
Then I said:?
Am I willing to pay $100 or more to repair it? NO!
Bought a new Grill instead
Not to mention it is better than what I was looking at!?
That’s my 2c !
Not sure what you’re budget is?

Love my GMG, for the record... I've never used the wifi on mine either... but at the end of my garage my wifi is too far away. At the right price... go for it!

Thanks everyone. I'll likely pull the trigger and buy it. I've been looking for a pellet smoker to compliment the propane smoker I have, although I feel a certain laziness coming on, no longer needing to tend to the temperature and wood chunks.

It's not laziness... we get wiser as we get older! We'll, it's my excuse lol!

Not lazy, just easier. I started on a WSM and hesitated for a while on buy my Rec Teq. I should have bought it sooner.

Had a Daniel Boone GMG for years… was always pretty reliable. Had to replace a few things here and there… but that’s with anything…

Can you try it out before you buy it? I'm with Jim_C. I gave my Traeger Ironwood to a friend two months after I used it last. Had kept it in the garage, and it worked like a beauty the last time I used it. Put it in the truck, drove it 20 minutes, unloaded it and....PID was out. Something like a $400 replacement part, and I felt like a @$$.

If they are cool with you bringing some pellets and firing it up, I think its worth it.
