PS I was on your team last year for Cresskill
Dan, I was actually going to message you. We are doing RWQ in Cresskill again, but not doing Seaside, and I didn't know about the other, but I'm winding down, so I'll probably pass on another. I was going to tell you to swing by Cresskill and say hello if you're around. There'll be a cold one waiting for ya!

Thanks, I'm a KCBS judge, I'll keep an eye out for you guys!
Sounds good! Maybe I can pick your brain for a minute... I'm debating adding some fruit to my finishing glazes. I was thinking of experimenting with peach, blackberry, and cherry. Any thoughts on what fruits tend to be judge pleasers lately? Thanks!

What I have been seeing lately is overly sweet chicken and ribs with honey poured over the top at the end. I haven't tasted much in the way of fruit. I personally like savory, sweet with heat on the back side. I wouldn't mind to have a cherry flavor, I don't believe I would like the peach or blackberry. One team asked me about using hot pepper jelly, I thought that it would be a nice contrast in the sauce

Thanks, that's a big help!

Congrats on your GREAT finish!! I will be at the RWQ as a judge, if I get a chance, will stop by early to say hi. Last year a rib I tasted and really loved had a slight peach sweetness followed by a little bit of heat at the end. Rib was not overly sweet and cooked perfectly. 9-9-9
