My youngest son has the flu, so I stayed home with him today. I got bored and got the itch to cook something but everything I had was frozen. I remembered reading a post from SmokinAl SmokinAl about doing ribs from frozen. I had a rack from a pig we had butchered in the freezer. I figured no better time to give this a try... and that's what I did...

I hit em with a rub I got in the Christmas gift exchange... thanks Justin yankee2bbq yankee2bbq .

I put these on at 225º because I had nothing but time to kill today.

Bite shot

Overall I was pretty impressed how well that worked. They turned out pretty darn good. Thanks for the education SmokinAl SmokinAl .

Glad you tried it. Looks great.
I don’t hesitate to cook thin meats from frozen and do it often enough. They might even be a bit better sometimes than conventional.

Nothing better than a smoked meat meal on fine china.
Beans and potato salad are my favorite sides.

Happy your ribs survived the freezer wrapped in paper.
That final cut shot is why I peel the membrane. Just don't care for it.

Thanks, my plan was to burn the membrane off on a hot grill. But I'm so used to peeling it before the cook that I totally forgot this time.

Awesome looking Ribs and Meal!! I can see a nice low temp working for that. How long was the cook? I like the ease of that, Haha!

Those look great.

Never done them from frozen before but after reading SmokinAl SmokinAl post about doing them that way it's great to know that option is out there.

Your ribs look delicious 🤤!
It’s great to be able to have ribs on the spur of the moment!
I have done this several times since, & the only drawback I can see is you can’t do any pre-trimming. On the plus side, I think the ribs retain more moisture when cooking from frozen!

Looks great! I have tons of ribs in the freezer. It's on my list to try sometime since Al did it.
Thanks, definitely came in handy for a quick fix.

Thanks, the cook time didn't really change much. Took about 5¹/² hours. If I would have ran at 250 probably would be around 4.
Good looking ribs.
Thanks 👍

Thanks David, they were smaller, coming from a local-ish butcher. But they were good.
