Fried Chicken (No Breading & No Oil)

I had to try this, and will be doing it again soon.
I don’t think you could get quite the same results frying without Breading or Oil any other way.

These Thighs & Drums were pretty darn good. Mrs Bear thought so too.

So I gave my Breading Machine the day off, and went right to the Hot Air Fryer.
I put them in the wire basket, so I wouldn’t have to flip them, and put the basket on position #2.
I put the Baking Pan on Position #4 to catch drips & crumbs.
Set the Fryer on “Roast” @ 380° for 30 minutes, with the fan on.
Checked at 25 Min, painted some Sauce on them, and adjusted time.
After another 5 minutes, I checked @ 30 total Min, Drums all done, Thighs not done yet.
Another 5 minutes, total 35 Min, all done—Thighs @164°, Drums@188° IT.

Time to eat!!
Mrs Bear added Peas & Mashed Taters, with Cream of Chicken Soup as Gravy.

Then the next night, I pulled the meat off of the other Thigh, and made a Chicken BBQ Sammy with Mrs Bear’s Sauce.

Everything Tasted Great—I’m loving this Air Fryer!!

Thanks for Stopping By,

Bear

Nothing wrong there! Looks delicious. This time of year, Bev asks for Baked Chicken with BBQ Sauce frequently. A splash of Liquid Smoke in the Basting sauce, gives a taste of the Summer...JJ

Looking really good Bear, Like! It's amazing to me how technology now makes it possible to fry chicken with no oil. I fried up some chicken thighs last night the old fashioned way, kind of slops up the stove, but still works well on a plate. RAY

Looks tasty Bear! When I oven or smoker fry chicken, I do like I will with whole or spatched birds. First I season, usually spog. I do make one change and add baking powder (not soda) to the mix. ! teapsoon is enough. Then I let them air dry in the fridge for at least 8 hours. Nice crispy skin (not quite like deep fried) every time.

Looks good, I set my oven on convection and 400 Monday night, a little olive oil and a light dusting of Runion mix, about 50-55 minutes and they were done. A little less healthier than your but better than fried floating in lard which makes the best ever lol

:emoji_thumbsup: Looks Great I could stand some of that right now

I "LIKE" it

Well I just made a thread on smoking and then air frying some wings. So, Bear, since you have done some naked raw chicken in your air fryer do you have any thoughts on process for me? Thanks!!!

Looks great Bear. I have been throwing out a lot of hints lately. Don't know if Santa is going to oblige or not.

looks like another tasty meal at the den, nothing like some plain old bbq chicken once in a while bear.

Looks great Bear.
I really like how these types of air fryers do no coating/no oil fried chicken.
Now, I'd be lying if I said I don't miss good old fashioned fried chicken but those days are over.

Thank You Jimmy!!
There's actually a little bit of LS in Mrs Bear's Home-made BBQ Sauce.

Thank You Ray!!
Bear Jr bought us a really good Deep Fryer about 10 years ago.
We only used it a couple 3 times, then put it away for all these years. It's still in the closet.
Didn't like having to buy a couple gallons of Oil for a handful of Fries.
And Thanks for the Like.

Looks good . I just got my " Bear carver Lagasse 360 "
I tried this the other night . Makes a good piece of chicken .
I find myself wanting to use it more and more .
Thanks for the info on this John .

I don't have a deep fryer Bear, pan fry in a skillet like my mama did. I take the skin off the thighs every time, sometimes I debone them and lay them flat, sometimes not. I dip them in egg batter and then a bread crumb mixture with flour and spices. I fry my thighs up in a oil combo of about 2/3ds veg or canola and 1/3 olive oil, sometimes straight EVOO, takes about a pint. I don't eat chicken skin, so there's no sense me cookin' it. RAY

I think we make more chicken in our air fryer than anything else, except tonight we are having homemade egg rolls! That thing really rocks!!

Thanks Worm!!
Personally I would keep them separate, and maybe just add a little Liquid Smoke to the Air Fried Wings.

Yup--Chicken is right up at the top, along with Fried Fish.
Once the Holidays are over, I gotta do some more experimenting with mine.
