If don't have room or want to spatchcock, and your smoker or BBQ is large enough to accommodate it, a Turkey Cannon might be the way to go.

I've done larger birds on this, and it does help with getting the IT up more quickly. But the drawback is it lifts the bird higher, and you need more space above it so the bird doesn't touch the lid or top of your smoker.
