Firebox for Weber kettle

Nice! I notice the air gaps in the corners where it slides into the kettle. Was that intentional? After watching your first cook and thinkin' about it a bit, I'd say those "air gaps" might help keep temps more manageable. Allows some air flow into the kettle that's not wood-fire heated.

It was to be able to easily remove the firebox. I am planning a larger smoker build and I wanted to try using a modular firebox setup. Mostly to see how well it'd work, but it also saves time and material when fabricating.

I'm thinking the same thing , and maybe a " vent " section on each side to close off or open up air flow . Idea being to let cool air in , or keep it out .

Hard to say how much air is actually getting in through there. Mostly smoke coming out so I don't think there is enough draft in the cook chamber to really create a vacuum to pull much air in. I plan to put a 2'~ stack on in the next week or so, so we will see if that changes.

How about a reverse flow kettle... HMMM

My buddy, where I built The Tractor, Did a Grate Rotisserie on a kettle... Meaning the grate spins around in a circle... I need to talk to him and see how it worked... I think it was for a customer...
