Morning All!

Just made the terrible mistake of looking at next Saturdays forecast and it's calling for rain. Naturally I have a 100 person cook.

I'm no stranger to cooking in the rain, however I've never used a stick burner in the rain. My Reverse flow chimneys are directly above the firebox so I don't have to worry about rain hitting meat. I have a tent to put over the cook chamber.

The stick burner has no dampers on the exhaust whatsoever. My question for all you folks is how do you deal with water going down the exhausts while cooking? Is it something you deal with, or do you add auxilary covers? I was thinking of putting two of caps like the photo on the cooker only for when raining, but do these affect draft?

I just put up an umbrella over my Lang.
If it's really raining hard I have a 10x10 portable cover.

You just made me think. I believe I have an old beach umbrella I could strap to one of the chimneys and cover both a few feet above. Shouldn't affect draft in any way if it's that far above the smoker. Won't help if I have heavy winds though, but we'll see!
