Easy Propane to NG conversion for Masterbuilt 40”

Just got my 40” Propane Masterbuilt and wanted to share how easy and successful it was to convert to NG.

Purchased a Ng hose and propane adapter (links below).

I like to use chunks instead of chips so the cheesy little wood pan that goes in the door won’t suffice. Instead I bought a steel wok ring (link below) that fits right over the burner ring, now a cast iron skillet fits right on top and smolders wood chunks perfectly.

Drilled the orifice with a #52 high speed bit (link below for the bits) as I assembled the smoker.

Did not install the flame cover plate.

Purchased a Wok Ring (link below) and placed it around the burner ring.

Now I just use a cast iron skillet for my wood chunks.

After conversion, temp dial and actual temp were not far off. Had just put a butt in for pulled pork.
