dose anybody know how to get into the whole professional bbq contests

hi im just a newbie but my dream is to start to go to those professional bbq contests and be a contestant

i know nothing about it or even where to look but im pretty sure it would be a blast

i would love to know the general rules or if your pit has to be spicific in some way 

and most of all just where to start

Check out the KCBS (kansas city bbq society) http://www.kcbs.us/   web site.  It will list all of the kcbs contests for the year,,by month.  They will also have the rules for the contests.  A bit of advise start with a smaller contest to get your feet wet...It does not matter what kind of pit you have BUT it must be fired with charcoal, wood, of wood pellets...no gas or electric heat sources..
