Do you still go to your State or County fair?

Ours has really gone down hill, they hardly have any stock animals, and I don't think they auction them off anymore anyways. They took away our horse racing, and added a day or two of monstertrucks, which I missed this yr. I don't think I'll ever go back as long as we are still here, it's just not the same these days.

How about your State Fairs?

I will go to the fairgrounds, for the GoodGuys car show , until I find the right muscle car. Besides that there is no reson to go, except for the over priced corndogs. Which are a favorite of mine.

I wish I could make them as good as they do.

What keeps you going to your State Fair?

We do, but we're vendors. If it wasn't for that, we wouldn't. The Wisconsin State Fair has really gone downhill and mostly become a place for teens to gather and fight. It's sad what it has become. Now that we're in Texas, we'll be doing that one starting next year, hoping it's better.

Nope.

Our big one the Washington County fair is just around the corner. These days it just attracts a lot of stupid people who like to do stupid things.

I cant even remember the last time I went to one. Maybe when I was a child?

They seem kinda cheesed up these days from what I have seen on social media.

Only went to the state fair 2 - 3 times in my 20's. Always went to a nearby county fair when very young with my parents. Haven't been to either in over 40 years.

I don't do our state fair but I do do our local fair because they have a BBQ Comp. which I participate in... Otherwise I wouldn't go to it ether...

I haven't been to the State fair in many years, and it's only 50 miles away. That said, I found out in July that our County fair has several categories for BBQ and grilled meats. You cook at home, then deliver for a 5:00 turn-in time in a styrofoam box. They judge just like pickles or apple pie, then award ribbons. I might try that out next year.

I actually meant the county fair. LOL!!!

I've never been to our State fair, it's way ghetto, people get shot there almost every yr....nope not happening, even with my buddy Sig by my side.

I love the 1/4 mile dirt track racing, at our fair, I missed that as well this yr.

We have a 1/4 dirt track right over the hill from us, that I go to whenever the winged sprint cars are there. I love watching those guy's and gal's run those tracks, it looks like it would be a blast.

Saturday night racing, ice cold beer, hotdogs and trailer trash, it don't get any better on a hot summer night.

I watch Kyle Larson grow up racing on our local dirt tracks when he was just a kid. Damn, that kid sure was talented!!!!

I screwed up my original post shouldv'e said county fair, I added it with an edit. That sounds like a good time, that's how they do our local bar rib contest. I've won it two times so I'm out, but I get to judge next yr.

haven't been to the Texas state fair in forever. It's a good place to waste money plus it's an hour drive, in a dangerous high crime part of Dallas, parking it awful, often in some dudes front yard for $20 and you hope it's there when you get back etc etc. I also don't go to our county fair because it'll cost $500 to take my family and there just isn't anything there for me. We have great car shows on the historic denton square, those are free to attend, along with other events. Fair feel but better.

I don’t believe New Hampshire has a state fair, but there are several regional/county fairs. I’ve only been to the Hopkinton Fair. I only went because I was working at the beer tent. I won’t go unless I have a reason to.

Went to the state fair a few years ago as our niece had a cake in the 4H competition. Way too hot in early Sept to be in Pueblo that time of the year! We finally found where the cakes were, in a building with no a/c inside of glass shelving/cases. Half of them were melting/sliding/collapsing. Even the single layer cakes. We found our way back to our car and left. Plus it is a 1 1/2 hour drive one way.

Keep meaning to go to the county fair one of these years but live in a small country. I like to look over the live stock and watch the kids show their animals. They don't advertise it much and we seem to always miss it.

I love the fair! I grew up never missing the Twin Falls County Fair and Rodeo (southern Idaho) as it is one of the larger county fairs, and a big stop on the professional rodeo circuit. The last few times I went, admission was $6, and all these years later I see that advance tickets are only $7. They have a fairly big musical act one night in the rodeo arena, and maybe a dozen years ago I saw Charlie Daniels. It was a $2 ticket, on top of fair admission! Rodeo grandstand or standing in the arena, up close to the stage. Awesome show.

When I was working and living back east, I studiously avoided the NJ State Fair. It's held in the enormous parking lot of Giants Stadium, mostly drawing in people from Newark and the other urban cities in NE Jersey, plus bored Manhattanites. Really just a carnival with none of the trappings of an actual state fair, with a bit of gang violence thrown in. No thanks.

Now back in Idaho, the North Idaho State Fair is held maybe 4 miles from home. It's a big state, so there are also Western Idaho and Eastern Idaho State fairs, maybe a 12 or 9 hour drive from here, respectively. But the North Idaho State Fair is fun, all the elements that a fair should have, including a pretty competitive rodeo. Last year the Budweiser Clydesdales were here for the 9 day run, hauling that classic red wagon around the fairgrounds twice a day plus a featured appearance on rodeo nights. Admission to the fair is about $10, but they have two free days; three if you are over 60 years old. All it is missing is a BBQ competition!

We go to the Clay County Fair in Spencer Iowa every year! Look it up sometime. Great livestock show, great entertainment! Used to have chuckwagon races... not sure if they still do or not. But a great family tradition for many!

Our county fair has gone to sh!t, it's nothing like it was just a few yrs ago. We almost missed it, and honestly wish we would've it was way to hot as well. And they had hardly any stock animals, and during the week they had zero 4 H animals to auction off, It's just not the same around here anymore. I can't wait to leave CA.

Nope. Only been at the state fair once in the last 50 years. The fair is stupid $$$ 20.00 for a soggy blooming onion from what I've heard.

Back in the 80's I briefly attended an Apple Festival around Barry, IL one year when some of us went to the USPSA Nationals. Went to see a tractor pull but it was cancelled due to rain. They still had the tractors on display though. They were garden tractors! First I'd heard of it. Did get to see a car stereo display and demo. At the time it seemed crazy what all had been done to the cars. The craftsmanship was amazing. Also sampled some of the best apple cider I've ever had. Found a roadside stand and bought some on the way home.

I'm likely to skip it this year. Last year, my son and I went, and I think we only spent 1-1/2 hours there. Less vendors, exhibits, deals, and attractions. And everything went way up in price. An elephant ear (fry bread) was $10, as I recall. I like them, but not that much.

That said, though I didn't make it down to the Tillamook, OR county fair this year, where my parents live, I still enjoy going most years. It's the only place in the world where you can enjoy the Pig & Ford races.
They also have about 10 horse races a day.
