    Delmonico Steaks  (Nice and Hot)

No I’m not talking about hot seasonings!! I’m talking about Hot Plates!!

I always hate it when my food gets cold, especially my Steak, so I decided to do something about it.

I finally broke down & bought a pair of cheap “Sizzle Plates” for this little experimental adventure.

I pulled a pair of Delmonico Steaks out of my freezer, that had only been in there since last August. I put them in a Ziplock bag with some Teriyaki Marinade for a few hours. Then onto my Weber “Q”, until they were nice & Medium Rare on both sides.

Meanwhile Mrs Bear was making my favorite Roasted Reds, and some Sugar Snap Peas, and she was also warming the Sizzle Plates up to 300° (I don't want to cook my Steaks again---Just keep them warm).

Then after some pictures for you guys, our meals went on those hot plates, and everything worked out Great !!!

Below are some Pictures of the whole successful Adventure.

    Thanks for Looking,

    Bear

A few hours in a Teriyaki Marinade:

And onto my Weber “Q” they go:

    Gotta get some Grill Marks.
    Now I’m getting Hungry!!

    Onto a plate first:

Then onto my new Sizzle Plates @ 300° to keep everything warm while we eat.
Added some Roasted Reds and some Sugar Snap Peas:

Your Steaks looked great , John . I have a couple of CI oblong Fajita grills , they would probably be good for Steaks too [IMG]  .

    Have fun and ,

    Thanks Richie!!

I did a little research awhile ago. It seems many people heat the metal plate (SS, Iron, or Aluminum) to 500°, and then drizzle a little oil on before the steak, so it make a sizzling noise for the person dining. Others say at 500 Degrees the steak continues to cook, so they pull it a few degrees early so it doesn't get over done in the plate.
My plan was to ignore that 500° BS, and just find a lesser degree that will keep my steak from getting cold like has been happening for the last 45+ years, without cooking my steak any farther.
300° seemed to work pretty good for us.
We just heated the plates "Stacked" in the Toaster oven to 300°. Then pulled them out with hot pads, and drop them in their holders. Then drop the hot steak on & if there's room add the veggies too.
They don't seem to come in much larger sizes than the ones we got, about 7.5" X 10.75" (SS plate size).

I've had them in restaurants with steak in them, and with broiled seafood too.

    I like it !!

  7. Okay forgive me for asking, I might have missed it. Where did you get the sizzle plates from? I would love to get some. I love it when at a steakhouse and the food is served on a hotplate, still sizzling and popping!!!!

  9. Great job, I like those plates we had some years ago, but don't know what happened to them. I may get a couple more they really work, We have a Restaurant  Supply here and I get most all my stuff there, Really cheap.

Steaks look outstanding, great job.   [IMG]

I thought about it many times, but never got around to getting any. Then I finally decided to order a pair from Amazon. Mrs Bear asked what I was doing, and I told her I was going to order them. She said not to because our Son had just picked up a pair for us. I still might get two more so we have them for guests.

    Thank You!!

    Thanks Stan!!

I saw those while I was searching, and some of the people on the reviews said they use their Fajita Pans for Steaks too, so I'm sure they would work Great too.

I got Stainless Steel so I wouldn't have to deal with treating them to avoid the rust.

One question Bear, how does a steak like that hang around long enough to get cold.    [IMG]

My Son got them at a Restaurant Supply place in Allentown, PA, but they have the same type all over the Internet.

Just search "Sizzle Plates". They have CI, SS, & Aluminum. I like the Stainless Steel best, myself.

They are only about $12 each (Plate & holder), but that's about the cheapest. They don't seem cheap though.
