Dad... He was The Man!

His name was James. Friends called him Jim.  A pilot for the Army Air Force in WWII. Tours in Europe and Africa.  Later became a merchant in the hardware buisness.

Great father. Expert on a Weber Kettle.  His was green and so is mine.  He taught me all he knew about that grill and how to appreciate a good backyard party!

The last thing dad gave me before he passed in '97 was a Weber kettle, which I still have.
He would have been all over this smoking thing!!

Thanks for that, Brian. My dad used an aluminum PK. He would even let me soak the KBB in the bucket of varsol before he got started. I can't remember anything but hamburgers on that thing, but he did cook breakfast every morning that I can remember. He was a great dad and it sounds like yours was as well.

My father was Army Air Corp. Hawaii....   Lots of folks don't realize they were the precursor to the U.S. Air Force...

Initially part of the United States Army, the USAF was formed as a separate branch of the military on 18 September 1947 under the National Security Act of 1947.[sup][8][/sup] It is the most recent branch of the U.S. military to be formed, and is the largest and one of the world's most technologically advanced air forces.
