Well, it's more of a traditional country breakfast but I made more of the Cajun inspired gravy that I used with the CFS last night to cover pretty much everything on my plate. It was so good I just had to make it again. I had nothing on the work schedule today so decided to make myself a really hearty breakfast, and God it was good!!

Got a couple homemade breakfast sausage patties out and into the electric skillet

Wanted some hash browns so fired up the tater grater

Hash browns on the stove in an 8" CI skillet with a bit of oil, salt, and pepper

Got the butter, flour, and Cajun seasoning started to make the roux for the gravy

Whip up a few eggs with a bit of milk and a bunch of cheddar cheese

Gravy all done

Breakfast plated. Time to add the gravy

Money shot...and nap time again

Boy this was good!! That Cajun gravy is going to be a staple around here. I just love the stuff and Tracy about went gaga over it last night. I wouldn't be surprised of she comes home this evening and says she doesn't care what we have for dinner as long as it includes the gravy. If y'all have not figured it out, I'm an absolute gravy junkie!! Doesn't much matter to me what it is, it's always better topped with an appropriate gravy.

Well...gotta run

sure does look good Robert, nothing like a good meal before a nap. what kind of grater do you have and i'm assuming it does cheese? my wife talked about getting one a while ago maybe I could surprise her with one.

Good looking breakfast. I'm gonna have to try some of that gravy. I'm wondering how the addition of those spices would work in some S.O.S.

Looks great Robert! I too need to try out that Cajun gravy its sounds amazing. Wonder how the addition of some crumbled sausage in it would be to go on top of biscuits?

Looks great Robert! I'm with you...gravy should be it's own food group IMO

I do a sausage gravy using HOT breakfast sausage (Bob Evan's in the chub) that I put on biscuits, and it's awesome...so hot sausage gravy works great, give it a try. Nice looking plate too!

Looks good. Looks like I'm in the market for a grater as well. Can you post up some info on yours?

I like the sound of the gravy just not a fan of anything on my eggs other then Bacon. LOL

Yes Jim, it does do cheese. As a matter of fact, that's exactly what I bought it for. Tired of spending a fortune on those little bags of pre-grated/shredded cheese from the store. Also, they put some sort of an anti coagulant in there to stop it from clumping up in the bag. That stuff does not melt well and I found out that's what caused the grittiness in a mac & cheese I did a couple months ago. We go through a LOT of cheese around here and I'm guessing the money saved on cheese paid for the machine within two weeks. I buy all my cheeses from Costco, cut them into smaller blocks, and grate/shred them, then just put the whole bag into the fridge. Made many things using cheese this way and it is WAY better than the pre-grated stuff and WAY less expensive.

Here is the link to the one I got. Amazon has about 5 million of them. I was getting a headache looking through all of them and just picked one that was in the middle of the price ranges. It comes with 5 or 6 different attachments for slicing and/or grating pretty much anything.

Was probably the best $53 I've ever spent on a kitchen toy!! I just love the thing.

Well Travis, your thoughts mirror mine. I am planning to do some biscuits and gravy using homemade Cajun sausage and this gravy. One huge difference with the gravy for this meal is that I used to put vegetable oil in to create the roux but this time I used butter instead. That made a HUGE difference in flavor and texture.

Lovin' me some Cajun food,
Robert

Yep...I totally agree. See my reply above to Travis.

I wouldn't exactly call that "hot" but it certainly amps things up a bit and adds a nice tingle. Did that many times before starting to make my own sausage. You do however have me thinking I may need to put together a recipe for some spicy breakfast sausage. Appreciate the input and for getting the thought processes working again.

Awesome looking meal!
How did you do it all without using the Air Fryer?
Just kidding!

Thanks Al. Don't know how I managed to do all that without the air fryer, but I didn't want to wear the poor thing out so just had to make this one up on the fly. It came out ok, even without the air fryer :emoji_astonished:

Bacon is certainly good on eggs but I tend to put something either on or in the eggs. Almost always put cheese in scrambled and as often as not, top them with some fire roasted salsa...or in this case, a nice ladle full of gravy :emoji_wink:
