A while back i went to Costa Rica and had some pan fried Corvina (fish) That was outstanding but i can't seem find any here So Cal. Is there a replacement that is close to it that i can use. Trying to recreate a great meal. Any help would be useful since I'm not that familiar with different fish.

You can catch Corbina surf fishing in SoCal.
Very similar species, and on the table too.

Commercially, you can substitute Sea bass (best), Snapper, Mahi Mahi and Redfish.
John, white sea bass is a closer match than Corbina, as the Corbina are mainly bottom feeders. The WSB are biologically in the same family as the Corvina, making it an almost perfect match. My family used to fish (WSB/ one of my favorite fish) commercially, along with Albacore, Yellowfin, Bluefin, Yellowtail, and Salmon, they fished from SD all the way up to Alaska depending on where the fish were and what they were fishing for.

Our Costco sells WSB, check yours, it is an amazing fish, and boy do they put up a good fight. We call them the Gray Ghost because they are so hard to find here in the SF Bay Area. They are like hooking into a school bus driving by at 60 MPH, and they never give up until they are in the net, super fun fish to catch, and amazing on the grill, or in chowder, with a little Lemongrass, and ginger.
So Frick'in Good!!!
Dan.
