This was a straight up trained assassin, to make that shot under pressure and make a clean getaway. No way in hell, some crazed lunatic practices enough to have this outcome.

This was a hit, plain and simple.

Both my wife and I sat glued to the sofa with tears in our eye's all day and evening wondering how our Country got so F'd up, and hoping they would announce that the shooter has been eliminated/vaporized.

No such luck!!!

Charlie was amazing at what he did, I've watched him for yrs.

Prayers go out to everyone who loved him.
Godspeed goes out to Charlie, his family, and everyone who loved the man.

I hope the people talking trash about the man, rot in fiery hell!!!

Right? He was so good at what he did/make people think by using facts in a civil manner, while preaching his love of family, and the word of God.

He will be missed, but not forgotten by many, many millions of people.

Heartbreaking to hear of this! I am getting older, but I remember a time when if politics, religion, etc… was brought up. We may not have the same view as another person, and always some $hit was given back and forth… just in fun! But after all we were all Americans, shook hands, wasn’t obligated or wasn’t going to change our viewpoints on either way we looked at things… but though didn’t agree with the other person, we respected their opinion though we didn’t see things the same way. Sat down and enjoyed a friendship, relative or relationship over a cold beverage of choice.

I sure hope we can get back at that. In the same boat as @pc farmer my daughter and son are 18 & 16 respectively… and been where Quiganomics is currently.

My fams prayers have went out to Charlie and his beautiful young fam left behind senselessly.

We have a fam friend named Matt that actually worked alongside Charlie for a while and were good friends. Wife and daughter went to see him and his wife today… he is saddened and with disbelief that his friend is gone.

Great post, tell Matt that we are praying for him, losing a friend over any circumstances is a long painful ordeal.
But when it's because off a senseless act of hatred it makes it much, much harder.

I can't imagine what he must be feeling.

As long as we keep this as a thread about a tragedy and not about the left or right I think it will be fine. Cory Booker said "this should not be seen through a partisan lens but rather a patriotic one". I hope we can get back to this point

When anyone has their life taken in this manor it is a sad day for us as a country.

I was really hesitant about adding to this discussion being a Canuck and all but.....a lot of what's happening in your country is over-flowing up here (tariffs not withstanding) and it seems that either our gun violence is getting worse OR it's just being reported more.

Several of you mentioned mental health and I agree it's a national crisis and needs more attention. There are likely times a shooter is suffering from mental illness. That said something we don't mention enough is the fact there are just a large number of pure evil people in our world.

When misbehavior and violence is condoned starting at the top people think it is ok. This is happening on both sides of the aisle. The poor behavior and disrespect has become abhorrent. Social media has compounded the issue since people can hide behind their computers and say whatever they like. Most people run straight down the middle, but the majority are being buried by the loud, insolent and obnoxious. I dont know the first thing about this man, but I feel for his family's loss. The violence has got to stop.

Let’s not forget about Luigi Mangione the guy who shot in cold blood the CEO of United Health Care named Brian Thompson. In the aftermath of that execution Mangione was and still is heralded as a hero by many on social media and elsewhere. The culture is plain disgusting right now in some sectors of society. Just really unbelievable.

I think I get what you are saying, but I wont define it because its technically political. While it was certainly a news story, the Hortman's were nowhere near as well-known as Kirk and Kirk's assassination was done at a college/public venue in grand fashion in front of thousands, AND there is graphic video of it. Apples and oranges. All of it is horrible though.

The future is definitely uncertain, but the joy of some people at the killing of Kirk...well, it says a lot about certain people in our society. One has a right to think and speak in America though (although the plandemic was a trying time on that), as horribly ugly as it can be. The 1A was intended to protect some of what some people consider terrible speech. And I say let them speak, this way we know exactly what and who they are.

Charlie was a man of compromise and peace...as well as integrity.

There's been other times with other threads that Jerry, pineywoods has said the same thing. We will never keep everyone happy. A young man died, leaving a wife and two young children, and I don't know how many other relatives. That's a terrible thing... period! Feel free to go to Facebook if you have any more complaints! They won't be tolerated here.

All of this is not new. It’s cultural rot. Been around for a very long time. Going back in the Time Machine let’s recall the 1960’s which was a blood bath. People assassanated for their views and first Amendment rights. Off the top of my head,

Medgar Evers, Martin Luther, JFK, Bobby Kennedy. That’s the short list but we need to fix the cause, not the effect.

Absolutely! I'm glad I live in the country, near small town decent people. We talk to each other, open doors for one another, smile and say hi! Wave at complete strangers while driving down the road. I was raised working for a living, and to be respectful of others. That's what is sad, so many people can't do that or choose not to.
Too much in life can go wrong in too many ways, we don't need to be hateful of each other.
