Can someone tell me who made this pot?

Picked up a pot yesterday it has a capital L inside a diamond and 2 gallons cast in the bottom. On the outside it has the number 11 on the side. I can't find anything saying who's marks these are any help would be appreciated.

I don't recognize that maker's mark.

Ok thanks, I've got if up on another site and have had no luck there either. Because of the style of mold used the consensus is that it is late nineteenth or early twentieth century.

Hi Hub62, I don't recognize it either but if you are a e-bayer then I would go to the discussion forum then the collectibles under category-specific boards and ask there.  Lots of good people who deal with this stuff every day and are very willing to help.

Is it cast iron? Could be Lodge. They're more known for their cast iron frying pans.

Lodge puts their name on them. Always have. I wasn't aware of the size inside the diamond on the side of the pot. That will make it easier to research.

That is one gorgeous pot.....  I'd say early 1800's.... never was meant to see a stove....    Hook and a fire....

Agree with you Dave! It looks to be in beautiful condition. My grandmother had some with the diamond and the L. They were from her mother. She told me they were Lodge. I cant pinkie swear to that...but I still think Lodge.

What does the inside look like? Clean or rusty?

Could that be a lead pot?? There is one on Ebay, about the same shape but listed as a Lead Smelting Pot.

Was reading this on a cast iron collectors web page .... i was thinking that maybe thats a 7 , but it really looks like an L.......boy , whoever made it that is a thing of beauty.
