That looks great Case. Successful first cook.

I need more info on the brick charcoal

You must be like a kid on X-mas morning.Got to play with 2 new things tonight.I found a store in PA that I can get it shipped to my door for $2.27/# but you have to buy 6 boxes -30 #'s = just under $69.Curious how it would work in the 14.5 WSM...

Thanks Adam. It’s some good burning stuff.

I probably won’t use it often as the cost is more than I’d like to spend. One box would allow my to do two, three cooks on the hibachi. Probably could use three hunks in the mini to achieve the same as a full basket of lump or briquette for short cooks. Not sure on longer cooks. They do last a long time.

I’ll do some experiments in the mini and see.

I think it would work great. That’s next. I have half a box left. Not sure what i’ll cook. It’ll be a long one.

Because i’ll be using the side light method. 60-80 hour cook. Could be the thing!

Definitely keep me posted on that.I was wondering if the elevated cost of it would pay for itself in burn time/#'s used.

Good looking wings there Case. Looking forward to the charcoal results in the Mini. Is there any recognizable flavor from the straight charcoal?

Thank you!

Very little. Just a slight hint. May be more if these had been cooked in an enclosed pit though.

Thank you.

I think so. I plucked them out of the Sportsman and put them into a closed down SMJ. I’ll look when I get home tonight.

Well it looks like I saved the unspent charcoal. Super dense still not much smaller than when I started.
