Called Costco and they said that Brisket cost $6.19 a pound. I don't know what standard prices are now, but is this a good price?

Must just be the trimmed up flat for that much. The whole packers usually run $2.50-$3.99 depending on the season. And their beef is prime so that plays a factor too

Yup, at my local costco, the whole briskets are prime and less than $3/lb whereas the trimmed flats are only choice and >$5/lb.

In my experience, it’s a heck of a lot easier (and tastier) to smoke bigger pieces of meat with more interstitial fat.

late reply...costco prime whole briskets have run 3.99/lb all summer here in SLC.

Our Costco usually only carries flats and their expensive. I'm not sure of the price but I believe it's in the $4.00 range. I'll have to check again next time I go.

I go the the Costco business center in Hayward Ca. $3.09 for prime and $2.69 for choice. They also had flats spiced for pastrami for under $5/lb today. I bought beef short ribs, pork ribs and a pork belly today.

Saw this in Costco today. Are they getting brisket from China now?

$5.49 a pound? And that's Choice!

60-70 bucks here at kroger the other day. i keep saying im gona grind one into burger. just cant seem to pull the trigger. lol

old thread but always a worthy discussion. lol

Got my last one in the fridge now.
Paid $3.99/lb on sale from 4.99/lb.
It pained me to even pay that, since the other one I had was 1.99/lb.
I'm guessing 1.99/lb will just be a distant memory from now on.

That would be a complete and total bargain in my neck of the woods.
Shoot, when I first started smoking, around 2010, I could pick up a brisket at the local restaurant supply store for $1.49 lb. I know things have gone up, but nearly quadruple?

Generally around here brisket is $7.99-$8.99/lb and it's been that way for a long time here.I have a 5lb flat in the freezer that I picked up for $5.99/lb and was happy to do it.

OMG! Thats crazy!

Back at the start of Covid I went by the local meat market one day and they had the worst looking brisket I've ever seen. Kinda shaped like a gigantic tritip.:emoji_dizzy_face: The price was $13.49 a pound!:emoji_disappointed:
At least things seem to have gotten better.
