Gotta say the $39.99/lb I just paid a high end butcher for outside skirt steak was totally not worth it. I will stick with $13/lb inside skirt and add fresh pineapple to the marinade.
If you ever see a sirloin flap steak, give it a try. I either sous vide them, or marinate and grill.

Sirloin flap is a good cut , chuck pectoral if you can find it might be worth a try at under $6.00 a pound here .

Two weeks ago I went to Costco in search of a chuck roll for grinding since I only grind my own now. It was $6.99/lb. Went to check out the brisket and prime was $5.99, choice was $5.89.

I now have 15lbs of ground prime brisket in the freezer.

When our untrimmed Tri Tip get down into the $4.00 per pound area I load up on as many as my freezer will hold. The sales comes around 2 to 4 times a year.
That used to be my go to cut from Costco Business Center in Florida. Price jumps around so I have to be patient.
I've noticed the trim has gotten considerably larger. Have you noticed the same?

Our grocery stores only carry the basic beef cuts. Basically when I look, only beef is ribeyes, NY strips, T-bones, boneless chuck roast, top & bottom round roasts, stew meat, cubed steak, and burger. One part of the problem is nobody actually cuts meat anymore. The markets don't have band saws, slicers, or cubers. Everything except ribeyes and NY strips come in pre-cut and wrapped. They just open the box and weigh the packages. The skill of actually cutting meat is gone now around here.

All that being said, the least expensive beef cut available to me in a grocery store is the cubed steak at around $8.99 lb. I'm like others on here, I shop at US Foods Chef's store and buy primals to break down. This week whole boneless chuck roll is on sale for $5.99 lb., Angus ball tips are $5.49 lb., their regular price on whole trimmed brisket is $5.59 lb

..
Local grocer in MN and Publix in FL both cut down primals they bring in for resale.
Local meat market is trying to get setup for kill and process, but the city (and I suspect the state as MN is not friendly to deal with for business) has jacked him around on permits.

I tried at US Foods and everything is frozen. That's a decent price on trimmed brisket.
