Doesnt feel like a bargain.
That's because it's not .
Things have gotten way worse in a short amount of time . Beef is through the roof , and pork is right behind it .
Tag from 2024 , and that was as high . I just checked pricing where I buy briskets . Whole packers are $5.39 . That's down $0.30 from this past Sunday .

Kroger near me runs them on sale for $2.99/lb. on occasion for USDA Choice. Just bought 3 a couple of weeks ago and ground 1 into burger. Other 2 went into the freezer...

Tyson Foods gross profit for the quarter ending June 30, 2025 was $1.14B, a 30% increase year-over-year. JBS is down a bit, but only in comparison to an obscenely blockbuster 2024; right now, their pork and poultry unit is having a banner year, though, so they are reporting a quarterly net profit of "only" $528.1 million. And Cargill? Well, they seem to be doing pretty well for themselves, too...

I picked up a 17lb. American wagyu brisket last month from Costco for 5.99/lb. The cooler butted up right next to it had Prime’s for $5.49/lb. It took me about a second to pick up the AW. thought it was a pretty good price, now I know it was. I didn’t take a pic of the label, but here she is after trimming.

Greedy bastards.
Every single one of them.

I cannot justify the cost of a packer anymore. Last one was about 25% fat. I can get a trimmed flat for the same net price (don’t like the point)

This at my local Kroger yesterday. I just don't eat much beef anymore due to cost.
