Hello Everyone,

My name is Chris, I am a South Florida native (Delray Beach) and have recently stumbled into this exciting world of smoking/BBQing.  It actually all started when I went to BrandsMart to find a grill, I spotted the Char-Broil Silver Smoker and bought it on the spot!  I really had no idea what i was getting myself into until I started researching how to use an offset smoker.  I'm glad that I made the purchase because I really want to become proficient in smoking and this seems like a great community of people to be a part of.

I don't want to dump my million questions here because trolling through the forms I see every newb like me has already asked every imaginable question.  I think I will take some time and browse through to learn as much as I can!  I attached a pic of my new grill and GF in the back being a wino, lit up some coals to break it in last night and burned off some of the metal grease.  I need to go out and find some wood at home depot or anywhere else you guys suggest so I can start my first smoke soon.  I think I'm going to test it with baby back ribs first, maybe some chicken simultaneously.  I've seen some cool mods that I would eventually love to do, but they seem to require welding which is out of the question for me.

Anyway, glad to have found this site and cant wait for some great smoked meals in the hopefully near future.  Wish me luck!

Hello, and welcome from East Texas. This is a great site, lots of information and great people that are willing to throw in their two cents worth on about anything.  Hey Chris, there are no dumb questions, if you don't know you don't know so ask away and I am sure you will get plenty of answers (or at least opinions )

Chris, welcome!  If you have the girlfriend already drinking wine by the smoker you're halfway there!  For your first smoke chicken is always good, hard to mess up unless you set it on fire.  I also recommend fatties, easy and tasty.  Whatever it is you start with, enjoy, and you're right, a wealth of information here.  I also highly recommend Dutch's Wicked Baked Beans.

Glad you joined the group. The search bar at the top of any page is your best friend.
About anything you wanna know about smoking/grilling/curing/brining/cutting or slicing

We are all smoke junkies here and we have to get our fix. If you have questions
Post it and you will probably get 10 replies with 11 different answers. That is
because their are so many different ways to make great Q...
Happy smoken.
