Thanks SA! The setup has been a long time plan that finally happened! That makes it a celebration each time it is used! That's a really nice setup you got there and the food looks even better!
Thanks Sandy, and the X-Fire got lots of use before we moved to a place I could roll it out to use so had some time with it to "practice"Looks like it works well! Steaks and plate looks awesome!
Thanks swamp! I'm really happy to be cooking on it again, and yes immense satisfaction. I have a build thread on it. https://www.smokingmeatforums.com/threads/the-x-fire-grill.284462/Great pics! Glad to see you cooking on that beast again! I know it must be satisfying after all the work to build the cover for it. And it seems I missed how this grill functions until just now. Cool concept on the grate.
Thanks and you are welcome, Colin! Glad I could share on the SMF!!!Great cook and great pics! Many thanks for sharing, civil.
Thanks Winter!Beautiful . . .
"The grates embrace the flames as a partner of love!"
Did I wander into a poetry slam?? Oh man, that's some impressive use of the language, right there, Brother! You're a wordsmith!
Seriously, Dude, that cooker is a thing of beauty! Very nicely done on the steaks and taters! I'd founder myself on that plate!
Points for the cooker, for the steaks, and for the write-up!

Bill you have NO idea....LOL no ring....yet.... but I do have ringed hooks to hold things above the flames, does that count? Its a lot of fun to cook on it! The inside of the chamber was 400 degrees before I put the steaks on. A fire that that creates some serous heat!Yeah bro... you are seriously in love with that thing. Have you put a ring on it yet?
Hell of a cooker. Man those steaks are amazing.
Bill
Thaks Chris, and if you remember in the way back memory, you provided some measurements for the v-grate as I was planning the build, so your cooker has a "connection" Thanks again.I am so glad to see that you got the beast up and running. I knew every picture well since I have a similar cooker.
Next up for you should be skirt steak or flap steak. These two really make you love how well you can make meat taste.
One thing to make it even better is after the charcoal is going is to add wood splits on top. Believe me once you do that you will never go back to charcoal alone.
Many thanks schlotz! I'm glad too and with the fall approaching it will be perfect weather to hang out by the fire!Befitting cook in the new digs Cortney. Glad to see you're back at it. Well deserved after all that work.![]()
Much appreciated David! Oh yea not excited at all.....NOT AT ALL!!! LOLThe whole..... fire - cook/smoke - plating.
Just a work of art , sorry I mean Courtney
Its a shame that you don't really get excited about using the X-fire.
Really though, beautiful machine.
David
Yea that's magic, I believe @JIMSMOKES is doing the same is his new grill as he posted such in one of his threads. We just dropped to the low 80s high 70s this last week, finally working after "work" hours is possible again! That includes cooking to!I also start with coals before the splits myself. Today was the first day in over two months that it got down to the 80's. It's been so hot. I had to make up for it today.
EDIT: Opps! I never clicked on Post Reply. This was supposed to be posted last night.
