That's a great price for that . Those are solid units in my Opinion . I have an older 800 watt , and the 900 watt .

I’m trying to talk myself into or out of this purchase never tried sous vide cooking. Like many of you I need another cooking gadget like I need another fishing pole😆

I like Sous Vide cooking. I dont feel its universally applicable, but I like using it for beef. I do steaks, flanks, and roasts. all very good. havent mastered chicken, but dont need to either.

If you get one, I recommend a made for SV tub, rack for inside and if you can find one a neoprene sleeve for the tub to keep te heat in. not a have to, but the sleeve is nice. i'll see if can find the one i got years ago

Flanks and skirts would be the top things I would want to do.

Never done sous vide before.Sounds like I'm trying to talk myself into making another purchase!
do it! simplified, you SV to the desired doneness for a couple few hours, then sear the F out of real fast and its perfection. proper doneness all the way through with a thin sear. I ever have one of these for the sear

I love that unit. First time using it thought was gust another gimmick. Now its my crutch for perfection every time. Smoked my bird yesterday and guess what I will be using to warn it today. Idiot proofs chop and thick stake cooks.

Searing brings up another "issue" for me...trying to talk myself into Grill Grates for both my Weber Spirit and Q!

There are so many uses for this but the biggest for me is reheating. I cook stuff like Pulled Pork or Tri Tips then freeze them. When we need dinner just drop it in the sous vide and you have a fairly quick dinner without all of the mess.

Steaks are another great one to use it on. Sous vide to 129degrees then a quick sear in a nice cast iron pan or on a grill as hot as you can get it.

Good luck with your decision.

Definitely a yes for reheating! Used a small cooler to reheating a ham. Wasn't sure the exact eating time so took the whole cooler along to dad's. Kept the lid closed until just before serving time.
