I'm not familiar with that either, but I am willing to spend a wee bit extra for good mayo. Case in point: Kewpie from a good Asian store. Pricey but well worth it for the umami kick. World Market sells it but from my experience, it has to be an Americanized version that lacks the magic of what you can get at a legit Asian market. I too hope you grab some and report back. It could be a civic duty of sorts! :-)

Malcolm Reed is sponsored by Blue Plate Mayo, so he talks it up on his podcast. I’ve never encountered it up north

Is it worth seeking out when I’m down south?

Sitting on the west coast away from the mayo wars just enjoying Best Foods Mayo. My wife gets Kewpie from her Asian market but I didn't think it was anything special.

If I see Dukes some day might try it just to see what the hub bub is about but it might just be better to live in ignorance and like what's available here.

I've not tried it and I'm a mayo snob haha.
Me too. Don't use it often but when I do I want good s***. Dukes is OK. To me, a good mayo means extra heavy (more yolks). Pretty big change actually. All extra heavy I've seen is 1G. Cool part is it's half price of store stuff (per oz). Bad part is too much too have around. While I could probably organize a group buy/share, my family and friends are not foodies like me.

Plan to make my own extra heavy by SVing an egg or 2 and adding and stick blending a jar of Hellman's (or Duke's). 135F 90m/crash cool. Probably the 4-5th time I posted that idea and always hoped someone would take the bait but none have LOL.

For $12 I am getting this and sharing. 1G/128oz is 4 and 1/4 - 30z jars. That's nearly $30 here.

GFS has heavy and extra heavy on the shelf . Never knew what that meant .

Something about adding yolks to a jar says No to me . I saw the SV part , but strikes me as a bad idea .

I mentioned I am a mayo snob and partial to Dukes after growing up on Hellmans. That said I love the Kurtz mayo sold at Savealot for $3.99. Just noticed Walmart is now carrying Blue Plate for $3.99 as well.

I like this mayo too. I'm partial to Dukes. Ann is going to grab a bottle of the Mikes today. Pretty interested in it.

According to their web site, only a grocer called "Martin's" in my area carries it. Closest one is about 40 miles away. I will probably not remember to look for it when traveling through those cities.

Similar to Dukes, egg yolks are the second ingredient (water is the second ingredient in Hellman's) but the third ingredient is vinegar, where with Dukes its water, so it may be more tangy.

Unlike Dukes, it has sugar in it, so it is likely sweeter. Dukes also does not have lemon juice in it. Hellman's, Mike's, Kraft and even Great Value all have some form of lemon in them.

Dukes is less expensive than Helman's at Walmart here. So many people are stuck on Hellman's and haven't even tried Dukes. Some people on a budget are buying Great Value of course. Dukes is even less expensive than Kraft mayo and that stuff is not good.
