good stuff!! yeah, my doc is aware of the issue. she has considered an epi-pen. while the reaction is bad, its consistent. if it ever got much worse I am sure between my wife and doc they would insist on the epi.

not what part of my diet would be making them come after me and not my wife, we eat all the same stuff. its the same with mosquitoes, I get bit and she does not...baffling

Yup---I never had much trouble with Bees, but Skeeters Love Me.
Some say High BP & Body Surface Temp.
I know whenever I went to Picnics, there could be 20 people at a table, and if only one person was getting attacked by Skeeters, it was Me !!!
My Dad was the same way.
I could move around to different seats at the tables, and it was still Me !!! Ball Games, Fireworks, anything at night in the summer---Sometimes even during the Day, I was First on the Skeeter Menu!!!

Man that sucks you swell up so bad, or get stung in the first place! Hope it gets better soon for ya. But on a lighter side of things...some of us get some crap for getting our feet in the pics, we just can't compete. I now have a visual of John SmokinVOLfan SmokinVOLfan in his flip flops...he would need a really big one for that left foot!

Feel for you. Today, I swell up if stung. Sucks, but I deal with it.
Only 1 trip to the clinic in over 40 years and that was an eyelid sting about 6 years ago.

45 years ago I worked seasonally for a Beekeeper. The first 2 weeks was hell as I swelled up pretty good (bad?) until my immunity system caught up. Once my titer (antibodies) was enough I could get stung and often not feel it until I bumped the venom sack a honey bee leaves behind. Ears and the nose still burned a bit. Another bad place was a male only situation when nature called and if it happened don't tell anyone... Yes it still swelled for a day or so.
Big plus was mosquitoes and flies left me alone. I really miss those days.

Providers tend to err on side of caution for Epi-Pens without going through the entire list.
If you don't go in to respiratory distress, probably not needed unless other serious side effect (affect?).
You can drive to the ER or clinic with a swollen whatever as long as you're breathing without burning $2,000 in Epi-Pens.

Fueling Around Fueling Around all well said. My wife was freaking out about this last one. which is still swelled up pretty good 3 days later. EH would be a waste of money, epi-pens = same.

I think this one got me a full shot of venom. oh well - good times. Makes for nice shocking pictures to share with the fam.

I agree if it's the same reaction you've always had and never and breathing issues then epi isn't needed. Some people just swell. When I get stung it can take a week or better to get back to normal. Makes my skin feel hard around the sting site. And terrible itching from the swelling lol

Same except I got stung on my toe and the swelling went half way up my shin - got my work shoes on this morning which was nice. had to wear running shoes with my khakis - which made me feel like an old man with bad style. bahahaha

the RN i talked to recommended pecid AC as an antihistamine - I think it helped more than benadyl without the side effects. she was like "this will seem odd, but try it". i figured what do i have to lose. really seemed to help.

I'm not allergic, but can attest that yellow jackets don't appreciate their ground nest being run over with a bushmaster. Dang, that pisses them off, and they chase and sting you a LONG time.

They don't like push mowers either. Two years ago got tagged by 4 of them before I even knew they were around. Fortunately no reaction other than general irritation. Got my revenge later with multiple applications of spray … from a safe distance of course.

Geeze Sandy your gonna have to change your user name to Fred Flintstone Foot UT :emoji_wink::emoji_laughing:. Sorry that was my first thought when I saw your pic.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I've been stung a few times and never had an issue. In fact, when my friends and I were about 10 or 11. We would catch bees off the berry bush by cupping our hands over them. Then we'd put them into a mesh box until we couldn't get anymore in the box. Once the box was full we'd release the bees in our neighbors garage(you know the neighbor that always yells at the neighborhood kids for any and all reasons). Anywho we would then close the garage door and wait for him to go into his garage. Boy did we hear some choice words coming out of his mouth. Then he'd see us all laughing and rolling on the ground and it piss him off even more. Good times I tell ya.

I also knew a guy who raised honey bees and stung himself. He had really bad arthritis and after the swelling went down the pain and stiffness was gone.

Oh well enough reminiscing. Hope your swelling has gone down.

We used to have a guy near here who dealt with Bees, Wasps, Yellowjackets, etc.
I called him a few times when I had Above & in Ground nests. He comes & catches the whole nest, with the Bees, in a trash bag. Then he preps whatever you do & gets the venom to hospitals. If it's not one of the kinds he wants, he just destroys them for you.
All this was NO CHARGE. Now get this----His Name is Bill "Hurt".

My Sympathy to all that are allergic to Bee and Wasp Stings. I have no allergies to Insect Stings or even Poison Ivy. But, I have experienced the wrath of a Yellow Jacket that got sucked into the open window of my truck at 65 mph on the highway. The damn thing flew down the back of my shirt collar. Nailed me in the back 6 Times before I was able to pull the truck over safely and get my shirt off. No reaction but the pain and the dime sized itchy welts...JJ

ouch...oucH...ouCH...oUCH...OUCH... OUCH!!!!!!

Almost every time I work out in the yard, which is 4 or 5 days a week I get stung by a wasp, bee, or get a spider bite. I’m just used to it now. Too hot down here to work outside with long pants & long sleeved shirt. So they always seem to find me. I found that if you squeeze the bite real hard for the first few hours it gets the venom out & the swelling goes right down. You can actually see the venom coming out of the hole.
