My plan was to get a batch of beef sticks ready for the smoker for tomorrow. Never having made beef sticks before, I thought I had everything I needed. I have 19-21mm casings and the smallest tube I have is just under 3/4" dia.    I have fought and fought trying to get a casing started.........they just will not fit.

I have 2 questions.

Is there a smaller  tube available.........probably from kirtchner????

And........I'm sure I'm ok........but can I freeze my meat mixture while waiting on a smaller tube????

Thanks in advance for the advise.

I've got a kirtchner..........purchased it from northern tool and the guy I talked to says they don't have smaller tubes. And doesn't know if kirchner makes smaller tubes.

I bought a 3/8 in from Bass Pro for my Cabelas  stuffer was a hair to large used my table top belt sand in wood shop to reduce it.  Stuck a dowel through it and put just enough pressure on tube so it didn't turn easily and ground lip down to fit!  If u do this remember to smooth the edges cause they will be very sharp!  Learned hard way!

Martin.........I don't remember the size......but it will almost hold 10# of ground meat. Does that make it a 5# or  15#?????

I love Dave's idea................................

If I don't get satisfaction tomorrow when I call kirtchner..........I may be looking for some pex tubing.

I have my meat in a ziplock and in the freezer.......waiting on the right size tube.

Martin........I feel really dumb now. I was thinking I had bought 10# of burger. I have 5#'s...........so my stuffer is a 5#'er. Sorry.

I made mine with a piece of pex and a 1 3/8'ths stainless washer that's hole accepts the pex-heat and flair the tube. the washer size will depend on the nut that holds your tubes in place. total cost was less than a buck. there's a how to thread in here someplace.

Martin..........I'll be checking with kitchner 1st thing tomorrow to see if they have a 3/8"...........but..........the lem looks like it would work after I grind just a smidjon off the flange. Mine is 1-1/2" and theirs is 1-9/16"

Here is one more idea that works for sticks......  Dave

Wicked1, morning....  If you have a box store close, and a tubing flaring tool, you can make your own.... They have thin wall tubing in various diameters... I made 3 stuffing tubes from their tubing.....

Tools required.... flaring tool, torch for annealing the brass tube.... washer if necessary to keep the tube from from going thru the plastic tube....  this will work without the washer also.....     Tube cost $3.85...  1/2" / 13mm OD  .014 wall... x 12" length

I made 1 tube from type M 1/2" copper also... 5/8" OD.... it is on the left.....  that is available at Home depot

Food for thought...   Dave

I did the same thing as Dave. I had an extra sink/toilet supply line laying around (new) and the pre-formed flare fit nicely inside the other tube.

Dave..........the closest we have to a big box store is a walmart. I ordered a lem tube this morning .........so I guess I will wait a few days. But........I will keep the home made tube in mind if I need a special size again. I do have all the tools.

Nepas.......it must be great to have a welder friend close by.

Gary........I hope it fits like you say. My nut is 1-1/2" at the flange.....the lem states 1-9/16"...........and I plan a little grind to fit will be in the cards.

Sound1...........now that's an idea to keep in mind also.

Thanks all.
