WOW! That looks great! Nice job, and what a way to honor a young man on his birthday. I have a 21 year old who just bought himself a kayak and loves it, so great gift. I also have a 15 year old who is pure carnivore, so I may be doing something like this for his 16th in July!

Great looking meal and a kayak! That’s a pretty damn good birthday to me.

I have that hardcore carnivore rub. It’s good and i like it but it’s a tad salty for my tastes. I added pepper and ancho chili powder to mine to keep the “black” appearance while reducing the salt by volume. The contrast between the exterior and meat is awesome.

That's a fine looking spread and a great piece of work for your sons birthday Jake, Like! It does have to be tough on a young teener being locked down and having social distance, makes it tough on a fella to get out and meet some girls, which if I remember right is high priority at that age. Jake that's exactly how I feel about going out to eat, why? When I can make it exactly how I like it at home for half the price or less in most cases. Really the only time we go out to eat is if we are traveling or we have friends visiting from out of the area.

Holy cow man, that meal looks spot on, I don't know about those black steaks though.......Joking of coarse.
I can't imagine being a teenager stuck at home with mom and dad knowing that there are so many gal's that need my love'in...... I'm sure he will make up for lost time, I know That I would've.

PS. I don't need rubs with activated charcoal in them, I do a good enough job adding my own charcoal when I'm grilling.
