Thought I'd post this. I like playing around in my man cave. And I have a weird hobby with collecting blue tooth speakers. So why not combine the 2?

Got these the other day at a sale on their website. 2 kits and the correct size bit for the holes.
The kit calls for 1/4" panels. I didn't have any except for a couple pieces. So I used poplar that I had laying around.

Quick and dirty to see how it sounds. I'll do a better job when I get the right wood. The sound is ok. Probably be better using the right wood for the acoustics.
Pretty loud for a little guy!

Rockler is like the Sears catalog when I was a kid, They got it all.
How big (or how small) is the cube?

4" cube. It's supposed to be a 3" cube. But I enlarged it slightly to compensate for the thickness of the wood.

Nice Steve . So you supply the wood ? I made one that accepts my phone . Nothing fancy , but very functional . Really throws out the sound from a smart phone .

I did use 1/4 " for the sides . I bet that helps your sound projection .

nice. I need somthing like that made out of starboard with a 3 1/2" hole to mount a marine stereo in my zodiac.
I've got enough bluetooth signals floating around to interfere with the local air traffic. <JK> :emoji_stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Yes, the wood wasn't included. I'll be getting some 1/4" oak later. I'm betting it'll improve the sound too.

It will. The denser the material the better. Also, you want the enclosure to be EXACTLY as the plan or it will affect the performance, usually negatively. Been building speakers for a long time. Not sure if you've seen these Steve but there's a bunch of different ones and cheap to play with. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1749858538...1291&msclkid=f9017c1c9b9c15324db61d61c601e674

I knew about the wood needing to be dense. So, I figured that. And the dimensions not exactly to the specs would make a impact. But. I just HAD to try it out!!!
I haven't seen those amp boards before. Looks like it packs a decent bang there. You built one with it? Love to hear your thoughts about it.

Nope have not used it but on another forum a bunch of guys have. The common thing they make with it is a jam box out of fancy woods or other existing boxes like cigar or ammo boxes. Parts express carries pretty much all you need and has forums for info. I am little nervous giving you this info as it might feed your addiction! :emoji_laughing:

It amazes me the quality of sound these days from tiny speakers.
Back in "The Day" speakers had to be huge to get quality sound
and Blue Tooth meant you'd been eating Blueberry pie....

Soo true! Back in my Army days over seas. I had one beast of a stereo system. Not to mention a few ghetto blasters. I had one that played full size records! Boy, did that thing chew through batteries! Now, I have bluetooth speakers as small as a beer can. Wait, I have one of those! And I have one the size of a suitcase. Sound quality varies. But I have a couple that rival the bose units for the fraction of the price.

I know. But I think the ID of what I did was too small. Perhaps larger isn't as much of an issue? Also, I just ordered their stereo kit.
