With all the fabulous entries that were submitted for the Poultry throw-down. I'm sure that judging them had to be difficult, but with that being said. I am pleased to announce that we do have winners.

Our three member judging committee have cast their ballots and the results have been tabulated.

Winning 1st place in the poultry throw-down by the narrowest of margins(1 vote). Let's give a huge SMF congratulations to @Buckeyedude.

For his winning entry BED will take home the $100.00 gift card from Porter Road - Congratulations BED, and I'm sorry that I forgot to include part of your description when I first posted the TD thread.

Finally a big thank you goes out to all of the SMF members who took the time to help us out by voting in the forum poll.

It's been a real pleasure, and let's hear it for the winners and all those that entered.

Wow, thank you everyone. I think these Throwdowns are pretty darn cool. Awesome job to everyone who entered, those were all some fantastic entries. Congratulations @Buckeyedude, killer entry for sure. Thanks to @TulsaJeff , @bmudd14474 & @gmc2003 , for putting all of this together. And thanks to the SMF family for making this forum such an awesome place. Can't wait to use my new toy. Thanks again guys & gals. 👍

Congrats to the winners. Very deserving!

I was going to do lollipop chicken but at the last second, switched to chicken-sausage mac-n-cheese stuffed fatty. The winners of that entry were my wife and me because it was delicious.

Of course, had I done lollipop chicken, it would have been knock-kneed and pigeon toed.

Congrats to not only the winners but everyone that contributed to the throw-down. If you did not win it does not mean your contribution was not worthy. I think every entry was something I would enjoy eating. I am sure I am not alone in that.

WOW, Thanks a lot everyone! There were some great entries and I'm flattered to be chosen! Big thanks going out to the people that make these happen! @TulsaJeff ,@bmudd14474 and @gmc2003 the secret society of unknown judges....and of course the sponsors thermoworks and Porter Road! You guys are what make these possible and fun!

'Twas a heck of a contest! Thanks to the organizers, judges, and those who entered.

I'll share a few details behind my Diwali Feast entry.

The tandoori chicken recipe was fairly standard, chicken legs and thighs were marinaded for 18 hours in a marinade of plain greek yogurt with garam masala, ginger, turmeric, coriander, red chili powder, and a bit of salt and pepper. Zest and juice from a lemon were added in the last hour, so as not to over tenderize the chicken. Cherry wood was used in the smoking, to impart the red coloring characteristic of tandoori chicken (which is often achieved with a bit of food coloring in Indian restaurants!).

The dal roughly followed Jet Tila's recipe in his excellent cookbook '101 Asian Dishes You Need to Cook Before You Die'. Yellow lentils, an onion, 2 garlic cloves, 2 Serrano chilies (all chopped), turmeric, garam masala, coriander, cumin, a can of chopped tomatoes, chicken stock, with butter and chopped cilantro added before serving.

The crispy garlic green beans were adopted from an air fryer recipe on the 'Ministryofcurry' website. Green beans, lots of sliced garlic, salt, pepper, olive oil, then into a 400F oven to cook and crisp. Served dusted with red pepper flakes and a sprinkle of lemon juice.

We've made both naan and mint chutney from scratch in the past, but commercial frozen naan and chutney's from the jar are really quite good, so we used store bought for this cook.
