If your AMNPS worked better after it's been in the smoker for an hour or two, it's a good indication your pellets were too moist when you started.
 
 
Here, it's just as humid, and I'm not having an issue. Right now I'm at 80% humidity, and I just lit mine easy peasy.
Agreed.

I can see places like Florida, LA, GA, etc, but I don't think Mass has Humidity any worse than PA or Canada. Gotta get it lit properly.

Gonna fire the crap out of that baby tomorrow!!!  Although I was going to do sausages, and I read its only 1-2 hours.  I may just fire up the Smokey Joe.  Not sure yet.  Maybe I'll do some ribs at the same time then I'll smoke them.  I need to declare victory over my ribs.  They have owned me every time.  Gonna foil and shoot for FOTB on the next run. 
 
Yep   They dried back out, had a nice salty, smokey flavor
