Hey man!  I bought the AMNPS to use with my MES 40 and I must say, I love it!  Not having to constantly load wood really makes the experience of smoking meat a better one for me.  I have a question, though.  I had my first run with it and only got about 2hrs of smoke.  I loaded the first row and just a little bit around the corner into the second row.  I had the loader opened about an inch or so, and the tray also open about an inch.  Am I getting too much air?  Was hoping to get a little longer burn time, per row.  Thanks for any help and keep up the great work!!!

Rich

No, that should be about right for one row.  Several factors control the burn time.  A fully loaded tray should give 8+ hours.  You can restrict the airflow a little more, but too much and it will snuff out.  I personally load it up to the max; if I need to discontinue smoking I just separate the burnt from the new pellets and it stops.  I'll direct Todd to this thread so he can give you far more correct advice!

I had a similar situation, pellets burning too fast, and Todd told me to push the Loader in, chip tray out 1", after they get going real good, about one hour, and the pellets will last longer. I have been doing this for months and get 10 Hours out of a full load. For sure, 3 hours from a full row plus around the corner...JJ

The guys gave you great answers - let me know if that did not answer your question and I can email Todd

Todd is up at the lake house most weekends so he most likely will not see this until Monday -

Sorry to be tardy....

Had a Boy Scout Camp weekend with my 8 year old

2-3 hours of smoke per row is normal, depending on the the temperature you're smoking at

Factors such as smoker temp, humidity and even wind can affect the burn rate

Thanks for all the replies, guys!  The following weekend we had an unusually humid day for the Northwest and I got almost 4 hrs of smoke from just over a row of pellets.  Who knew there could be something positive about humidity...
