Good luck and how exciting! We are relocating this summer from Indy to our home north of Knoxville, TN. Doubt it'll be our forever home. I still want warmer so we're looking at N. Florida. Checking out Fernandina Beach this weekend. Would like property, but we're worried we won't be able to meet people as easy as if we were a little closer to neighbors. Excited for what the future holds none the less.
Stay out of Anderson county you won’t want to leave lol, moved here in mid 70’s and still here 🤣

We're in Claiborne County on Norris Lake. It sure it nice, but not sure It'll be our forever home. 124 steps to the lake are going to get old quick!

On our way. Pre-signed for closing of the old house yesterday, left this morning from the Green Bay area for Texas. Just pulled off the road to stay the night at an AirBNB in Jasper, MO. 9 hours or so left to drive tomorrow, then close on the new place Thursday. Nice relilaxing drive so far, but seems surreal because the process went so fast.

Line's been crossed.

...state line that is.

We did it. Lived in SLC for nearly 20 years for a job, well 18 years was job. Then quit. did a ton of home improvements, then our girls started having babies in CO, where we started out and where I grew up. the improvements got us a full price offer in 24 hours, a day later we had a contract signed in SLC. Our heads spun off for that month. SO worth it. My wife took it more in stride than me. I was a stress case till we closed. The move to SLC was my first big move as an adult, for a job in my profession. That also stressed me out. We left 2 mortgages on houses that weren't selling for 6 months, lived in a crappy apartment, bought a house before our properties sold. Somehow it all works out.

We weren't happy where we were and it was time to take a chance on making a change. We're extremely blessed and grateful how smooth it went, typically things don't work that way.

We spent 2-3 weeks finishing up projects I had started over the last 5 years we were there (damn adhd lol), called our realtor, got it listed, and had an offer in hand over asking price in 2 days with a request to close in 30 days. We found something more modest in terms of the home but with plenty of land to expand if needed as well as the ability to homestead (not huge, but 5 acres compared to the .32 we had is a big change) and best part was being able to pay cash for the new place from the equity we have in the old place.

My goal was to be mortgage free by 50 and managed to do it by 45, so I'll take that as a small victory, get the necessities taken care of, then enjoy a glass of whiskey by the fire tonight (we close at 11:30am today) and worry about unpacking the rest tomorrow.

Things could have gone off the rails very easily, but we had some great friends that helped along the way, and that will never be forgotten. That friend is a member here, so if he sees this, THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS.
