Hey fellas just looking for a few good suggestions . I am in the process of working out the kwirks in my smoker build. One being a good smoke supply however, I believe that will need your guys assistance .

I bought the Amazn smoker box for pellets. Lit them with a torch and got them hot on the ends. Smokes way good but, when I put in smoker. The smoke goes to minimal amounts. I'm assuming it's an air intake issue.

Would you guys suggest drilling a side joke towards the bottom below the smoker box, that way it will draw air in and give the coals air to keep burning?

Hate to go to a different method but a smoke daddy style is about the only options I'm seeing if can't get this air to coals figured out

You def need good air intake to keep the pellets burning good. Post pics of the inside of you set up, sgelves removed, so we can see the air intake

I will def do that man and I know I need some holes just not sure on the placement of airinlet holes to where the pellets sit.

Okay fellas here's the break down of the smoker, I will also post a picture of the inside

I have a 4 inch stack mounted directly in center of build with adjustable damper.
Dimensions are: 23 inches wide x 42 inches tall x 14 inches deep.
Again, I don't have any holes drilled on the side for intake.

I'm sure there's some crazy math formula to the amount of air you need to cycle through based on those dimensions

Thanks in advance fellow smoke buddies!!'

Again, the issue is the pellets don't stay burning unless I keep tending them with a little air way to often. The whole idea is to light it and let them smolder and leave it.

Not much feedback but wanted to share what I've done.

I raised the Amazn smoker box up off the bottom of the smoker by installing another shelf
About a foot in half up.

Got a 1" inch hole saw from menards after work and drilled to holes about an inch apart and about three inches below where the Amazn smoke tray sits.

Gave it a test run and it's already surpassed the length of smoke it was producing before the holes were added. Letting it go to see if it will maintain the burn all the way through.

Just in theory, by adding a third hole. Do you think that will make it a bit better.

Note: I'm going to make a sliding damper for those holes that way I can adjust accordingly

This is a picture of my smoker i had the same problem with my smoker not enough air, i added a damper in back of my damper, still not much help. Now i use the tube with the bigger holes, and a mount off the bottom, directely in line with the lower vent, work great.
