Including me! Now retired to Portland, we were 35 years in north Idaho until this year. I started smoking in a Little Chief years ago. When I started bringing more salmon and ducks home, I got a Big Chief but both soon found their way to the thrift store when I bought a CookShack electric. Like most other electrics, it's a great way to smoke. But, after ten years I wanted a more "hands on" experience. Being retired, that means sitting in a lounger, beer in hand (the hands on part) watching the smoke curl out of my new 20" Horizon offset. My fifth smoke, 15# of belly bacon, goes in tomorrow.

I've been reading the posts here and appreciate the depth of knowledge and experience y'all share. I am sure to learn a lot and look forward to it!

Bout the only real speacial equipment you need in this neck of the woods is a covered patio or deck.... lol. Grats on the new smoker!

A patio cover was the first thing I did when we got here

One of those portable garage things and it works like a charm. The best part about being here (so far) is that I don't have to shovel what comes down from the sky
