to cook an Omelet and it really works....

I got this idea from a cooking show on TV the other day so I thought I would give it a try this morning. Its a Omelet that you cook in a ziplock bag placed in boiling water...OK I hear the Safety Patrols coming...lol

I used a 1 qt. ziplock freezer bag. I put 3 eggs, sausage and some cheese all into the bag and sealed it and mixed everything up real good. Then I opened up the ziplock bag a little to let the steam escape while cooking. Boil you a pot of water and when the water starts to boil place the bag into the Pot. I just let the top of the bag rest on the handle of the pot while cooking. As the eggs cook it pulls away from the sides of the bag and when it is done it is a perfect shape and all the goodies ( cheese and sausage ) are inside of the egg as seen in my pic`s...

If you think you can do if safely then do it...Its good and no dishes to wash except your plate and fork...

Hey Roller

We have been doing this for large gatherings for a while now and I can affirm that it works well. When we get all 9 grand kids and their parents it takes a long time to crank out that many omelets.  We hang a couple of dowels over a large pot and use clothespins to attach the bags to them. We lay out the ingredients in bowls and everyone makes their own and labels a quart baggie with their name - Lots of fun too

I really liked it and the Omelet came out perfect..I will be doing mine this way from now own...Thanks for your comments..

Dang, I guess I don't get out enough, I've never seen that before. I'll definitely give that one a try. Thanks Roller!

There are no safety issues other than the bag catching fire...Great technique...JJ

Thanks guys...Al you gotta do it...the only reason that there were no grits on that plate is I am still trying to hold my weight down...and down and down...

cool idea    what makes the "fillings"' go the the interior of the egg?

Too be honest Rick, they don't always do that. But for some reason as the eggs begin to firm up they push up the ingredients most of the time. It is best not to do more than 3-4 at a time so they cook well .

just commenting on what it takes to feed the troops..............

Not a problem guys and thanks Scar for the input. I was just amazed when it started cooking and the egg started pulling away from the inside of the bag and forming its shape and when it got done all I could do was just look at it in amazement that it really worked and so well. I will be having another one in the morning..

Wow cool idea I never have herd of it before. Asked wife if she had and guess what yes she has, said they do that at 1 of the houses she works at. Wounder why we don't do it, if we want omelets we just go out.  I am definitely going to try this.

Heard of it along time ago but never tried it. Wife said something about omlets in the morning, maybe I will beat her to it and impress her.
