I've been going once a week to GFS , to pick up meat . That's the only place I've been since mid March . They have had a good stock for the most part . It cycles between cuts , but have had mostly beef .
On the last run , couple people around the meat case . We were going one at a time , respecting the distance to each other . I was at the case some knuckle head comes busting thru the gal waiting her turn , and starts grabbing stuff . Some how he ended up pinned to the wall with my cart ! Turns out he didn't want any meat after all .
Anyway , I only take from what they have alot of . This trip it was Flank so I grabbed 2 . 7 pound packs . Driving home I have the thought , that's a bunch of flank steak .
These were no roll , so didn't really know what to expect .

Opened up to have a look . 4 to a pack . Some pretty thin .

Thin stuff will make good stir fry .

First cook
Took the thickest one from the first pack .

Marinate in Andria's steak sauce , garlic and green onion .
over night .

On to the 22 " kettle . I don't like to put wet meat on to cook ,
but figured this had enough sugar in the steak sauce .
First flip .

Got a pretty good char , it was at temp in the thickest end
so it came off for a rest .

Slices off the thinner end ,

Sliced off the thicker end for my plate .

It was all super tender , with great beefy flavor .
Happy I got as much as I did . Will make alot of good meals .

Second cook did some fajitas . Pretty simple . Just the meat , peppers and onions .
Soaked in teriyaki , brown sugar and garlic .

Chopped up peppers and onions and threw them in a grill pan on the weber .
Then kept them warm in the 360 .

Steak grilled up nice .
20200505_184024.jpg
Nothing fancy to look at , but was really tasty .

These are super tender , grilled medium rare and sliced across the grain .
Great flavor too .
Thanks for looking .

Two very nice meals. I think flank is one of the most flavorful cuts. And they take marinades really well.

Awesome Meats, and you sure knew what to do with them all !!!
Beautiful Work Rich!!
Sorry you had to deal with one of the idiots out there.
It's a wonder he didn't have an AR15 strapped across his chest, to show how tough he was.
Well, anyway Nice Jobs on those meats, all around!!

Great looking meals chop! Love using flank for fajitas and beef/broccoli on the flat top. Problem is usually around here its just as or more expensive than ribeye. I buy it when its on sale.

Nice job Rich!

Both look real tasty!

It is amazing how people are acting now adays....didn't think that they could be any worse than they have been the last few years. Seems too many entitled folks running around.

Stores around my area don't carry Flank. The meat managers said it does not sell. Flank WAS our primary Grilled Steak growing up because it was cheap. No more! Ever Skirt Steak is $9.99. That's nuts when Ribeye and Strip are $7 quite frequently.
Don't let No Roll scare you.Even Prime Flank is lean and tough unless cooked properly. Restaurants I worked in bought No Roll Rib Roasts and they were consistently great...JJ

I'm conflicted. I can't decide if I'm loving the pictures of that excellent food, or the story of how you "corrected" that idiot's behavior. Both very big likes!

Plausible deniability?! :emoji_laughing:

Good for you Rich! Somewhat glad I am not alone. Anytime we go out, s*** happens. Not joking. Wife ran to Kroger Monday and 6-8 women totally full out fighting at the checkout. Blood, hair, infants in strollers screaming. I am an easy going guy and try to be optimistic but admit I actually took ammo inventory and made things easy to reach for. Front page of today's paper says meat shortage...

Looks killer! Like SmokinVOLfan SmokinVOLfan and chef jimmyj chef jimmyj flank and skirt the stuff is not cheap here either but love the flavor and cave now and then. Totally agree on cooking it correctly. Girls like medium so no dice... Plan is to SV one, fridge, sear the crap out of it on next run.

Thanks Chris . I bought some lump charcoal yesterday . Thinking the high heat would be perfect for these . Thanks for the like .

Looks delicious!! LOVE the use of the cart against the moron in the store. Most people at least stay back a bit even if they aren’t doing masks. I’ve also run into idiots who get right in your personal space.
