I've been going once a week to GFS , to pick up meat . That's the only place I've been since mid March . They have had a good stock for the most part . It cycles between cuts , but have had mostly beef .
On the last run , couple people around the meat case . We were going one at a time , respecting the distance to each other . I was at the case some knuckle head comes busting thru the gal waiting her turn , and starts grabbing stuff . Some how he ended up pinned to the wall with my cart ! Turns out he didn't want any meat after all .
Anyway , I only take from what they have alot of . This trip it was Flank so I grabbed 2 . 7 pound packs . Driving home I have the thought , that's a bunch of flank steak .
These were no roll , so didn't really know what to expect .
Opened up to have a look . 4 to a pack . Some pretty thin .
Thin stuff will make good stir fry .
First cook
Took the thickest one from the first pack .
Marinate in Andria's steak sauce , garlic and green onion .
over night .
On to the 22 " kettle . I don't like to put wet meat on to cook ,
but figured this had enough sugar in the steak sauce .
First flip .
Got a pretty good char , it was at temp in the thickest end
so it came off for a rest .
Slices off the thinner end ,
Sliced off the thicker end for my plate .
It was all super tender , with great beefy flavor .
Happy I got as much as I did . Will make alot of good meals .
Second cook did some fajitas . Pretty simple . Just the meat , peppers and onions .
Soaked in teriyaki , brown sugar and garlic .
Chopped up peppers and onions and threw them in a grill pan on the weber .
Then kept them warm in the 360 .
Steak grilled up nice .
Nothing fancy to look at , but was really tasty .
These are super tender , grilled medium rare and sliced across the grain .
Great flavor too .
Thanks for looking .
