hello bull, just ran my grilla today on the original setting... looks if it has a 5 deg. swing on the temp. im sure it was smokin more, but I could not see it. the pid setting holds the exact temp. so as of now it looks like the original controller might be the way to go..anyhow whatever ya do...
yea I have a grilla with the alpha controller...to be honest I never used the smoke setting as the pid holds the temps with no swings, someday I will try the smoke setting, but im glad I got the pid also. its a lovely grill, you would like if ya got one. peace, randy.

don't be afraid to crank up the heat... cooked a chicken @350 til the temp was at 170 on the probe. it took almost 2 hrs. skin looked a little rubbery...had to finish off at 500 deg. had it on a stand, but took it off when crankin up the heat...
cooked a 6 lbs. roast on my grilla today... did so @350 deg. for about 2 hours. got the internal temp to 165 deg. rested for around 45 mins. came out perfect for my taste. peace, randy.
cool got ya brisket...I love the grilla. I have had pit-boss, rec-tec but the grillas are in ther own class. a little slow to get up to high temo but that's the thick metal....as far as that social media stuff, well I just stay separate from that....peace, randy.
got my new pellet grill... it has a high temp of 500 deg.f I used some 100% cherry smoke ring pellets, but the highest temp I could get is 440 deg. I switched out the pellets with pitboss competion blend hickory, maple, cherry and now it cranks up to 500 deg easy. the smoke ring pellets have a...
derrik, don't concern yourself....it will do the job brother. legs can get all the weather ya can throw at it....it keeps the important stuff dry, controller, pellet hopper, inside grill drum....water don't run uphill... its all good ya good to go. peace, randy.
