    Plenty of smoke on runs of 12 to 16 hours at 225 to 245. And that’s what is left. Nice useable charcoal for grilling the hamburgers.

    Might I suggest a smoker box. 14 hours no chips no fuss and, the end product with just the right amount of the smoke taste with no creosote bite.

    This is what my element wires looked like after 5 or 6 smokes with the MB 40, using the chip tray. Now I use the smoke box from jonok, 12 to 16 hour runs no burnt wires.

    L With humility and trepidation I jump head first, with this suggestion. A smoker box from jonok. Before a 14 hour run. After The product without having to add chips or open the door. And there is no creosote taste.

    This system is working well for me. I’m able to put chunks of wood in and it generates nice smoke for up to 14 hours. This is what’s left after about 12-14 hours.

    Thanks one went to a group of ER staff, I haven’t herd back. The other started as a family meal, lots of happy taste buds, from ages 6, 8, and a lots older. The rest fed two fathers without families and my family at the marina.

    The smoke generator I use was a nice modification to my mes 40. It smokes for many hours, I have gone 14 and still get great wispy smoke. The investment was well spent. I am able to use larger chunks of wood, one fill is good for the duration. I save money not buying chips or pellets.

    I, like you moved. More of a modification from the MES chip tray, feeding it every 20 minutes, then a pellet mod, trying to keeping it lit, to a smoke generator, with chunks of my favorite hard woods. I’m including some pictures. After 11 to 14 hours, that’s what’s left.

    I cut the bottom third off the bottom of the roast. Cutting that slab into 2 inch squares, wrapped them in tin foil with a secret sauce.
