I'm really thinking about it Rick... I mean it's the same thing as a Vertical RF cabinet style... just a different shape... My thoughts right now are how to connect that big (2-3") of a pipe to the pot...
If you need another tester let me know

It was on one of those infomercial but I can't remember the name and it's not on Asseenontv.com...JJ

not as of yet... have'n to much fun with it now... plus don't wanna screw up the pot and have to go buy a new one if it didn't work.... LOL

and the purpose is ? not getting enough air from the bottom vent ? that's gonna take place of the bottom vent ? you didn't use the dish with holes drilled in it under the charcoal grate and ashes are blocking your intake vent ?

It is to replace the vent in the bottom. I did do the dish as an ash cover, but it raised the grate up and I wasn't able to load up the lump or charcoal for super long smokes. I know I could have just got a lower profile dish, but like I said I like to tinker. Have my first smoke since the mod goign right now. Well warming up that is. up to 300* in about 20 minutes. Going to take it to 325* then damper it down and play for a bit before putting on the meat!

I should add that my other hobby is boat building. One of my boats has gone from oar to inboard power to sail to gas outboard to electric back to sail and now back to inboard! So for me the fun is in the mods!!!

If you just want to do a trial run and not cut a hole in the pot for the exhaust just use a few dabs of high heat rtv silicone and glue it to the inside of the pot. Than you can set the right depth by trial and error might have to make a temporary lid for the stack to come through.

Back to the main subject of this thread. I just picked up another pot and am going to use it to do what your wanting to do. So get busy!

Good deal... let me know how it works out... I'll be interested in what size pipe you use and how your going to connect the exhaust vent in the side of the pot where the indented ring is....
