WSM how much space between access door

Hi, I just got a new wsm and I was wondering how much space there should be between the access door. I bent is so there isn't a ton but you can definitely still see light shining through. Is that too much? Also since bending it scratches the grill a bit where it latches and around the bottom edges. Is this normal?

The door is the weakest part of the WSM.  The door I received with my WSM was severely bowed.  It will not seal and leaks like crazy.  Weber sent me a replacement door but it isn't much better.  I have the sealing kit for the WSM and will use that to seal the door.

I haven't noticed any scratches on mine but I'll look when I get a chance.
