I just bought a charcoal smoker and it has the normal pan in the bottom for the coals and the water pan up above. In betwwen that is a small cast iron smoker box I'm guessing is for the smoked wook chips. There was no booklet or nothing with it since I got the floor model so I'm lookin for some help please. Been grillin for years but the smoker is new to me.  I think the wet wood chips go in the cast iron container but so many sites say to put them on the coals if someone could help me out?

that is like my grill pro leave that box in while the smoker heats up with it right over the coals mine is about an inch above my coals and when I add smoke I just lift off the lid and drop a hand full of chips in it and put the lid back on. do not wet your chips as it cools the box off too much and not more than a hand full of chips or they don't all burn. Hope this helps
