Winter makes it to North Texas

After one of the warmest winters we have had old man winter finally gets here.

Yup, it's underway now. I'm out of town in Jamestown. It's snowing hard here with white out conditions. Son told me we have about 5"on the ground and snowing at about 1"per hour at home now.

That freezing rain was no joke. Still coated with about 1/4" of it here. Can't find any ice melt around anywhere. Sounds like you guys on East coast are gonna get it worse even.

Rain all day yesterday then a little sleet/freezing rain and it stopped. Started snowing about 9 this morning and hasn't stopped, but it's not looking to be as bad as they predicted. With the blowing and drifting it's impossible to tell how much we're getting.
Oh, well, we've been lucky so far this Winter. This is our first real snow.
The Mrs. has a minor surgery tomorrow at 11 but I'm not worried. The Outback just giggles at snow....

If it wasn't for being cold...currently 0 with windchill, probably about 20 below this morning...it was raw that's for sure but this is winter in Iowa, or so they say!

Doubt I've spent an hour in the tractor moving snow this winter, and that's at 2 different places. Maybe should have said so far...I'll probably pay for that comment now!

Yea, I've found that if you feel like you're getting off light, it usually comes back to bite you on the behind, weather wise. Especially if you put those feelings into words.

I was stationed at Sheppard AFB many years ago in January thru April and I don't remember snow I do remember it being really cold in spells, and I do remember drinking a lot, I guess not much has changed.

I lived in PA about 20 minutes from Jamestown. In high school we would drive to Jamestown to go to bars. PA was weird then, no picture on drivers license, and drinking age was 21. I had a friend 2 years older then me, I would use his draft card or drivers license, no picture on either.

Oh, we were talking about snow. Jamestown got plenty of heavy Lake Erie snow.
