Whole hog smoking- is injection a must?

Hi,

I am getting all my info together. I have injected some shoulders before, but at I prepare for the whole hog experience, is injection of the hog a must?

Mainly in the thicker parts, like butt, shoulder and ham.  What are you injecting?

I have not decided. I have used a less vinigery version of my mop sauce before.
