Well I finally got started on the gravity feed smoker to replace 250gal offset. Chose gravity feed as its only style never owned which will finish out my rotation of cookers

Project goals

-Less than $2k in build.
-Hold two 250lb hogs.
-Removable water pan with internal flange connections to be filled from outside.
-Reverse down draft design like pitmaker vault
-Mount on 27”-30” UTV wheels with wagon steering
-Rear axle with sprocket for remote control mobility due to weight.
-Cook rack 70”x32”

Received first shipment of steel
6 sheets 14ga
4 sheets 1/8”
3 20’ sticks 4x2 for rolling frame
6 20’ sticks of 2x2 for smoker frame

Remainder of steel will come when needed.

Progress thus far.
Frame built
Rear axle locations lasered and bearing mounted
Front wagon wheel assembly built. Copy off TMG design

NOTE: this is also posted on another forum. Will update both

OK.. Since I'm first to respond I guess I have shotgun for this ride... This will be fun to watch and see the final outcome... Carry on

Do you (or anybody else for that matter) use the Non Stick Spatter Spray when using flux cored wire ?? Makes clean up so much easier... Spatter just wipes off...

Hell... You gotta be close to your budget already with that steel order...

I'm jumping in on the ride also!
Holds 2, 250 lb hogs... how many people are you feeding? Love whole hog cooks!

This is first project plan to use spray. Should be coming via amazon this week.

And yes when I priced out steel thru my work vendors it came to about $2200. One of them was kind enough tho to give it to me for free and even delivered to my house.

I do hog cook every 4th but plan on doing larger gatherings in the future.

Cool!! That thing will be huge! I'm in...this'll be a fun build to watch!

Small little update. Able get frame done and temporary wheels installed. Smoker is 8.5” off frame and you can see the bottom of the smoker sitting on top ready for insulation.

Next up is frame and inside sheeting

Wow! I'm starting to get an appreciation for just how big that monster is gonna be!

Looking good so far!

So are you just gonna put a conveyor in that thing? Hog or cow goes in one end whole and comes out the other end smoked! :emoji_blush:

Gonna be a big one!

Wow, ambitious project. How much pellets is that hopper gonna hold ;)
Can't wait to see the finished product.

Got a little big of progress on firebox and transfer tube. Firebox is 12x12 with burn area being 4.5x12. Charcoal grate will be 1/2” plate with 1.25” holes

I ran two 4x2 transfer tubes with cutouts stopping dead center of CC. One is 4” prior center and other 4” past. Goal is to distribute heat evenly over 8” area right under water pan to get water to boil or close to boil as possible
